Saturday - LONDON DAY FREE You will have a Big Bus pass for a panoramic tour of London, plus an unforgettable London cruise. We suggest visiting the EDF Energy London Eye. One of the newest and most popular attractions in London, this 400 foot tall Ferris wheel along the banks of the Thames River is the vantage point for seeing one of several landmarks, including Big Ben, Parliament, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace. The Portbello Road Market, the largest antiques market in the world ,located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, takes place today. (CB)

Touros StonehengeSunday - STONEHENGE/BATH/WALES Stonehenge is the most famous of the great prehistoric monuments of the British Isles. Stonehenge is in the form of a circle of massive stones dating from the Bronze Age. Then, we see and the medieval village of Lacock, owned by the National Trust, and the setting for Emma and Pride and Prejudice We continue to beautiful Georgian city of Bath, providing visitors with a vivid picture of life in Roman Britain almost 2,000 years ago. Nearby is enchanting Tintern Abbey, on the Welsh side of the River Wye. Thanks to Wordsworth, Tintern is one of Britain's best known monasteries. The church itself is graceful and delicate, with majestic arches and a beautiful traceried rose window. Stay in Cheltenham, known for elegance and gentility, with its tree lined walks, exclusive shops and graceful Regency architecture. You can also visit some of the 11 dealers in fine antiques(CB)

CotswoldsMonday - COTSWOLDS/STRATFORD/CHESTER Drive up through the pretty villages of the Cotswolds, a gentle rural landscape of classic English countryside, ancient Anglo Saxon sett and old medieval towns and villages. In Shakespeare's home town, Stratford--upon --Avon, with its half--timbered Elizabethan architecture, we see Anne Hathaway's Cottage, a picturesque thatched home. We have time at leisure to explore this delightful town with its ancient houses and unusual crafts and antique shops. With the wide and diverse range of shops, shopping in Stratford and the surrounding towns and villages is a pure delight. There is an excellent period jewelry shop to explore. We end our day in the Roman city of Chester. No city in Britain is richer in archeological and architectural riches than Chester, and one of it's specialties is the "Rows", a double row of shops one on top of the other, dating from 1485. Romans arrived here in AD70, and Chester is riddled with Roman buildings and walls. Chester is the only English town still encircled by a medieval wall. Chester is a center for a range of specialist furniture, silver and jewelry, pictures, ceramics, glass, Asian art, clocks, scientific instruments, bronzes and other works of art oak and vernacular furniture, sporting and golf memorabilia, Staffordshire pottery, collectable ceramics and 20th Century prints. Lake DistrictTours ends in EdinburghTuesday - LAKE DISTRICT/EDINBURGH Drive through the Lake District, a favorite haunt of poets and painters, including Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth. for stunning views of lakes, gentle hills and valleys. Perfectly kept cottages trimmed with fuschia hedges, black and white cows, and butter-golden gorse dot the hillsides. We will visit a specialist with an extensive range of antique & modern clocks & barometers. Drive through the Lowlands, the turning point where Scotland breaks away from the English counties to Scotland's capital - Edinburgh. (B)

Hampton CourtDay 1 - Kingston-on-Thames - Hampton Court Palace Meet the Captain at The Stafford Hotel in London at 2pm before being transferred to the Magna Carta. En-route we stop in Twickenham at the Phelps Antique Centre. Phelps' 20 vast showrooms of well over 12000 square feet contain one of the largest and finest collections of antiques for sale in the south of England. Champagne reception and welcome by the Captain. Early evening cruise to Hampton Court Palace, former Tudor Palace of Henry VIII, where we moor for the night. Dinner aboard.

Windsor CastleDay 2 - Hampton Court Palace - Shepperton Morning excursion to Antiquarius, another superb center in fashionable Kings Rd Chelsea. Here are a collection of dealers offering silver, jewelry, period costumes, art, glass, sporting memorabilia and much more. Back at Hampton Court Palace, we have time to visit the state apartments of Henry VIII, whose 5th wife Catherine Howard is said to haunt the Great Hall of this, the finest Tudor Palace in existence. Wander through the beautiful Royal gardens and maze. In the afternoon enjoy a meandering cruise upstream following the course of the Thames to Shepperton. This evening we will invite a Guest Speaker from a London centre to entertain and stay for dinner aboard. Tuesday, Magna Carta Antique furniture cruise

Day 3 - Shepperton - Runnymede Morning cruise after breakfast to Runnymede. We moor at Bell Weir Lock adjacent to a luxury spa hotel, The Runnymede, where we have the opportunity to visit the spa and use the pool and elaborate leisure facilities. We then cruise past Runnymede, where King John faced the powerful barons and signed the 'Magna Carta" in 1215 as well as viewing the J F Kennedy Memorial. Optional visit into nearby Wraysbury where we visit Clive Rodgers, a premier dealer of antique oriental rugs. Dinner aboard. Wednesday, Magna Carta Antique furniture cruise

English VillageDay 4 - Runnymede - Windsor This morning we cruise to Windsor before enjoying lunch on board. After lunch we have an afternoon excursion to Windsor Castle. Built by William the Conqueror in 1066 and inhabited for over 900 years by the Royal Family. Moor on a private island with a unique view of the Castle. Walking across the bridge into Eton High Street, we have time to explore the numerous antique furniture and art dealers. We may also view Eton College, England's most famous school. Dinner aboard. Day 5 - Windsor - Cookham Leaving Royal Windsor behind us we cruise past fabulous waterside homes through the spectacular Clivedon reach and the open English countryside. We moor in Cookham, once described as 'Heaven on Earth' by artist Stanley Spencer, one of England's greatest and most eccentric painters, whose gallery we visit. Tonight, Willie and Sally Clegg from 'The Country Seat' will give an entertaining presentation of antique police truncheons before joining us for dinner aboard. Day 6 - Cookham - Henley-on-Thames A morning cruise to the village of Hurley where we have time to wander Peter Freebody's boatyard where we can watch in wonder at the traditional craftsman at work. Return to the barge for lunch before cruising to Henley on Thames, along the famous Henley Regatta Course. This afternoon we visit English Antigues tourthe Nettlebed antique merchants and 'The Country Seat', a tithe barn full of the most interesting collection of fine antiques. Architect designed furniture from 19th and 20th centuries and related art, pottery, metalwork and glass. Captains Farewell Dinner aboard. Saturday, Magna Carta Antique furniture cruise

Day 7 - Henley-on-Thames to London Following breakfast, disembark at 10 am and return to London. NOTE: On alternate weeks, cruise will be in reverse direction. A note for Antique Hunters: I recently visited Tetbury, known not only as the home of Charles and Camilla, but it is also home to many antique shops and charity shops, too. Highgrove was not yet open for the season, but we visited the shop where they sell organic products from Highgrove farm.
