The itinerary below is just a sample. Day 1: Maidstone At the heart of the Garden of England, a gentle landscape of orchards and hop gardens, Maidstone is surrounded by picturesque countryside
attractions and villages. Highlights include Leeds Castle and the Kent Downs
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while Yalding Organic Gardens and Stoneacre
appeal to dedicated gardeners. Leeds Castle - Sometimes described as 'The
loveliest castle in the World', Leeds was built in 1066 and was home to Kings
and Queens until the middle of the 16th century. It really is a jewel, now
decorated in the style of the heiress who occupied it with her two daughters in
the 1900's. Some details: Leeds Castle, set on two islands on the River Len in
the heart of Kent, has been home to royalty, lords and ladies for over 1000
years. Visitors are transported through 900 years of the castles history;
an eclectic mix of period architecture, sumptuous interiors and family
treasures waiting to be discovered.Day 2: Medway - Rochester, Chatham & Gillingham Medway is steeped in history and rich in maritime heritage. Situated midway between London and the Channel Ports its been a stopping off point for eminent visitors for centuries, and the river famously divides Kentish Men from the Men of Kent. Rochester is a gem of a city, with its cathedral and Norman castle, and it overflows with Dickens's sites. The high street, with its turn of the century shop fronts and narrow passages, is the picture of a Victorian Christmas. Day 3: Dover Castle (EH) - Positioned above the famous 'White Cliffs of Dover', the castle site dates back to Roman times. Included in the castle tour are visits to tunnels within the white cliffs that were used as a command centre by Sir Winston Churchill during World War 2. Day 4: Hever Castle & Gardens - Childhood home to Anne Boleyn (Henry V111's 2nd wife). Important restoration works were undertaken by William Wardorf Astor around 100 years ago.The petite castle at Hever, Anne Boelyn's childhood home is next. Bring Hollywood and history to life in Kent, the real-life location for new movie 'The Other Boleyn Girl', a romantic portrayal of the two Boleyn sisters and
their love for Henry VIII. It is easy to imagine how the picturesque stone
castle, moat and magnificent gardens would have formed a perfect backdrop for
the courtship between Anne and Henry. There is a permanent exhibition in the
Tudor Long Gallery on the life of Anne while other features include the bedroom
where Henry is believed to have slept. Day5: Sadly, it's time to return to the present time, as we travel to the airport or your cruise ship. Price Includes:
