For all photography trips in the UK:Day 1: Arrival day Your room will be available from 2.30pm onwards. Please join us for tea between 4pm and 5pm to meet the leader and your fellow guests. Before dinner there will be a brief introduction to the photography program. Bullen Steve is a keen natural history photographer and
his photos have been published in the BBC Wildlife Magazine, The Guardian, and
local publications Day 2: We start the day by exploring the picturesque village of Selworthy. We then travel by coach to Luccombe, Porlock and Porlock Weir. If time allows we may visit the church at Culbone, said to be the smallest in Britain. Day 3: Today we travel over the moor, stopping for the views from Dunkery Hill. Visits will then include Tarr Steps with its ancient bridge, The Punchbowl on Winsford Hill, and the village of Withypool. Day 4: We travel to the dramatic coastal area of Lynmouth, the Valley of Rocks, and Watersmeet. We shall also visit the beautiful Oare Church which featured in the novel Lorna Doone. photographic tours since 1995. In addition to providing clear and
straightforward explanations (for beginners and the more experienced) of
photo-techniques that are devoid of gobbledegook, he also has an in-depth
understanding of the British countryside essential for teaching
wide-ranging aspects of landscape and architecture photography. Day 2: Morning lesson followed by an afternoon shoot at nearby Torrent Walk. Day 3: Our first photo-tour is a circuit of Cadair Idris. Starting at Dolgellau we take the main road south of the Mawddach Estuary to Fairbourne. Following a short coastal stretch we turn inland to meet up with the Tal-y-llyn Railway at Dolgoch station and an opportunity to photograph the nearby falls. Return via Tal-y-llyn. Day 4: A tour further afield takes us towards the English border. First a circuit of Lake Vyrnwy followed by Wales grandest and most spectacular waterfall Pistyll Rhaeadr a detour that is a must! The charming border town of Montgomery, which has a castle, occupies the afternoon. A return is made via Newtown and Machynlleth. Day 5: A free day for you to relax at the house or explore the local area. Day 6: Morning at Barmouth where stunning views of the Mawddach Estuary are possible from the railway bridge (which has a walkway) and the Panorama Walk. Moving up the coast we call in at Llandanwg for coastal views before reaching Harlech and its magnificent castle. Return via Trawsfynydd. Day 7: One of the most breathtaking views of the Mawddach Estuary is from the Precipice Walk, just a short drive away. Lunch is spent at Cymer Abbey followed by an afternoon drive to Bala and its lake. As a finale we return via the Pass of the Cross climbing to 1,788 feet. Day 8: Depart after breakfast. Guernsey, 12 May 2012, with Derek Forss Day 2: Morning tuition followed by a photo-shoot in the local area. Afternoon stroll to Jerbourg Point. After dinner a review of progress. Day 3: A short coach journey brings the party to St Peter Port for a morning shoot. Afternoon trip by boat to the island of Herm where the more energetic may like to walk the complete circuit of the coastal footpath! After dinner a photo-discussion. Day 4: A coach tour of northern Guernsey. Stops to include St Sampson, LAncresse Bay, Grand Havre, Grandes Rocques and Oatlands Village. After dinner a further review of photographic images. Day 5: Today is a free day for you to relax at the hotel or explore the local area. Day 6: By coach to St Peter Port, then boat to Sark. A full days shoot including a visit to St Peters Village and a trip to Little Sark across La Coupee, a narrow isthmus connecting the two islands. A final review of photographic images. Day 7: A coach tour of southern Guernsey commencing at Vazon Bay, then on to Lihou Island, Rocquaine Bay, Petit Bot Bay and Moulin Huet Bay with a detour inland to St Saviour and Little Chapel. Day 8: Depart after breakfast. St Ives, 8 September 2012, with David
White David is a well known and established professional
photographer. During his busy and extensive imaging career he has worked on
assignments for all of the top UK newspapers and glossy magazines, as well as
many leading worldwide publications Day 2: Today we explore interesting St Ives and the surrounding area on foot. Day 3: We travel by mini-coach today to photograph some of the rich and dramatic coastline and industrial heritage of the area. Day 4: We head inland across china clay mining areas, stopping en route for picture opportunities, before eventually reaching and photographing the classic old tall ship harbour of Charleston. Day 5: Today is a free day for you to relax at the Country House or explore the local area. Day 6: We set our sights on the Lizard Peninsula and some of the hidden coves. Day 7: Today we visit the famous St Michael's Mount and the surrounding area. Day 8: Depart after breakfast. Malhamdale, 12 November 2012, with Alan
Cowderoy Alan has been a working photographer for 25
years. His own area of interest in photography is social documentary, enabling
him to record parts of society which otherwise might pass us by unnoticed. Day 2: Morning tuition will preface a short coach journey to the village of Settle for market day when stalls are crammed into Market Square and locals are in for the day from the surrounding farms and villages. We leave Settle after lunch journeying to Clapham, one of the prettiest little villages anyone could wish to find. From Clapham we will take a short walk (1 mile) along a nature trail passing the lake, and up through the wooded valley to the open dale and the imposing entrance to Ingleborough Cave (a 60p ($1.00) charge is made for the trail, and leaflets are available at the start to help you to interpret the many features to be seen along the route.) Day 3: Morning tuition before a short coach journey to Bolton Abbey. We walk by the river to Bolton Abbey with time to photograph the interior. Nearby Bolton Abbey station provides a diversion before touring through the dale. Day 4: Morning tuition before a short coach journey to the village of Malham from where we will take a short walk to Janet's Foss. We will then return to Malham for lunch after which we set out by coach to Malham Tarn, the highest natural lake in the Pennines. Our next stop is Arncliffe, one of the most attractive yet least spoilt Dales villages. Arncliffe was once used as a film location for the television programme Emmerdale. Our journey back to Newfield Hall takes us through the village of Hawkswick and on to Kilnsey, a tiny hamlet boasting Wharfedale's finest landmark, the limestone cliff of Kilnsey Crag. Day 5: Depart after breakfast. Isle of Arran, 13 October 2012, with Derek Forss
Day 2: Morning tuition followed by a photo-shoot in the locality and a stroll along the beach into Lamlash. Day 3: A coach tour of southern Arran with photo-stops at Kingscross Point, Whiting Bay (for Glenashdale Falls), Kildonan and Lagg. A return is made via the Ross Road. Day 4: After a stop at Brodick for classic views of Goat Fell, we spend the lunch period at Brodick Castle before continuing up the eastern seaboard to Corrie and Sannox. Day 5: A free day for you to relax at the house or explore the local area. Day 6: Our coach tour of northern Arran starts at North Sannox bridge for a stroll by the burn. Lochranza Castle is the photographic lunch stop before continuing to Catacol and Pirnmill. After a visit to Auchagallon Stone Circle a return is made via the String Road. Day 7: Off to the western coast via the String to Blackwaterfoot and a stroll along the beach towards Kings Cave. Afternoon at Machrie Moor stone circles before completing the coastal circuit of Arran via Brown Head, returning via the Ross. Day 8: Depart after breakfast.
