Please ask for details or click here for shorter tours. 9 days/7 nights/13 meals Day 1: Depart U.S. for Glasgow Depart U.S. on your overnight flight to Glasgow. Relax with inflight meals and entertainment. Day 2: Glasgow Arrival Welcome to Scotland, the land of
Rob Roy, and the setting for the film, "Braveheart". Visions of
highland games, golf, haggis, remote islands, and tartans come to life. Arrive
in Glasgow Airport where your guide or representative will greet you.
Complimentary group transfers depart Glasgow Airport at 8:00 am, 10:00 am and
12:00 noon. Passengers arriving later will transfer to the hotel at their own
expense. Your hotel is centrally located near Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow's
main pedestrianized shopping thoroughfare. At 3:00 pm take a coach tour to see
the main attractions of Glasgow including red sandstone Victorian buildings,
delightful parks, Glasgow Cathedral and the River Clyde, once famous for
shipbuilding. Visit extensive collections in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and
Museum, originally opened in 1901 and recently refurbished. Chat with your
guide and fellow travelers over a welcome drink before dinner. (D) Day 3: Loch Lomond Cruise & Glen Coe Depart Glasgow and drive north along the banks of Loch Lomond with views of Ben Lomond and other Highland peaks. Pause at the quaint village of Luss with charming cottages, which stretch to the lochside. At Tarbet embark on a short cruise to appreciate the beauty and peacefulness of this famous loch and admire panoramic views. Return to your coach and journey across mysterious Rannoch Moor. Drive through Glen Coe, a spectacular glen made famous by the Campbells' massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. Arrive at Loch Linnhe, an inlet of the sea, and check into your hotel in Ballachulish, where you can enjoy the magnificent views or relax in the swimming pool. (B, D) Day 4: Isle of Mull Drive along the shores of Loch Linnhe to Oban and travel by ferry to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. Visit Duart Castle, built on a cliff overlooking the sound of Mull. Travel along the coast to the colorful village of Tobermory, busy with local fishermen and visiting yachts. Drive through the Movern Peninsula and return to the mainland. (B, D) Day 5: The Great Glen & Culloden Drive north
to Fort Augustus and travel beside Loch Ness, keeping an eye out for the famous
monster while enjoying the scenic views. Take a break in Inverness before
continuing to Culloden Moor. See the battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie
was defeated in 1746. Drive to Blairs, outside Aberdeen, to your elegant 19th
century hotel. (B, D) Day 6: Crathes Castle & Afternoon Tea Depart mid-morning to tour Crathes Castle which dates from 1323 and contains a wealth of treasures. Drive along the Dee Valley to Ballater for a browse around this attractive town. Near Banchory stop at the Falls of Feugh to sample afternoon tea with delicious freshly-baked scones. Return to Blairs in time for dinner. (B, D) Day 7: Glamis Castle & St. Andrews Visit Glamis Castle, the legendary setting of Macbeth and childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Drive to St. Andrews, called the Home of Golf, to see the famous Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and enjoy free time. Drive to Edinburgh and this evening experience a Scottish show with dinner and traditional bagpipe music and dancing. (B, D) Day 8: Edinburgh Highlights This morning discover Edinburgh on a sightseeing tour. Drive along Princes Street, the main shopping thoroughfare. Compare and contrast the wide streets and elegant mansions of the Georgian 200-year-old New Town with the narrow lanes and medieval townhouses along the Royal Mile, the oldest part of the city, and together forming a World Heritage Site. Learn about the many prominent Scottish inventors, doctors and writers. Finish your tour at the imposing Edinburgh Castle where you can see many historic buildings and enjoy a splendid view of Edinburgh. The afternoon and evening are free for independent activities. On July 26 to August 16 departures enjoy the Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle. (B) Day 9: Depart Edinburgh Airport Your tour ends with a group transfer to arrive at Edinburgh Airport by 6:30 or 9:00 am. This will allow you plenty of time for check-in procedures and duty-free shopping before boarding the aircraft for your return to the United States. A transfer to Glasgow Airport will be provided on request at a cost of $65 per person. (B)
