5 day tour of Wales - Welsh Discovery
Wales is known only as the birthplace of Sir Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Tom Jones, but it has inspired the poet Dylan Thomas and other literary figures. Wales is the friendly, green, hilly bit on the western side of Britain. What makes a good tour of Wales? Using Cardiff as a base, with no packing and unpacking, we take day trips to see quite a bit of southern Wales.

Tour of Wales Monday - LONDON OR BRISTOL TO CARDIFF Take the train (Depart 09:15 or 09:45 ) from city-center London Paddington to Cardiff Central in just over 2 hours. Once there, join a city sightseeing tour. This is a 'Hop-on, Hop-off' service, which allows you to access all major highlights in Cardiff, the new Bay area and the new Millennium Stadium. There are 11 stops in total, and the entire route takes approximately 50 minutes. The tour starts at Cardiff Castle; however, you may board the bus at any one of the 11 stops around the city. Did you know that the National Museum & Gallery has the largest collection of Impressionist art outside of Paris?

Tuesday - COAL MINES, BRECON BEACON MOUNTAINS We start the day at Big Pit Mining Museum, with a tour of an underground coal mine. Blaenavon, a world heritage site, was at the heart of the industrial revolution. Heading north we explore the breathtaking Brecon Beacons National Park - a landscape shaped by glaciers with rolling green hills, sandstone peaks, high mountain lakes and cascading waterfalls. Guided tour of WalesWednesday - ROMAN FORT, RIVERS & TINTERN ABBEY See the Roman fortress town of Caerleon. Explore the amphitheater where gladiators fought to their death, the bath house around which much of a Roman soldier's life revolve, and the National Roman Legion Museum. The Wye Valley, crossed by the majestic Usk and Wye Rivers, unfolds to reveal the spectacular Cistercian monastic ruin at Tintern Abbey.
