“Quiet Man” Tour Travel through scenic Connemara where sheep
wander freely. Your route traces the vast, island-dotted Lough Corrib and
traverses boglands and moorlands. Distant mountains fill the horizon and guide
you to the coast where gentle waves lap at rocky inlets sheltering scattered
villages, and whitewashed cottages dot the landscape. See Ireland's holy
mountain, Croagh Patrick. Drive alongside Galway Bay, through Maam Cross and
past the Maamturk Mountains. In Cong take a walking tour around this village,
where the “The Quiet Man” was filmed in 1952. (B, D) Day 5 – Mon: Cliffs of Moher & Killarney View the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, which rise to almost 700 feet above the wild Atlantic breakers. Cross the River Shannon by ferry and stop in Listowel on the way to Killarney. Travel through fertile farmland with tin roofed barns and herds of meandering sheep and dairy cows to Killarney, called "Heaven's Reflex," as it is a favorite beauty spot. Admire breathtaking vistas of mountains, cliffs and beaches on Ireland’s
most popular drive – the 100-mile Ring of Kerry. Visit the Skellig
Experience to learn about the offshore islands, where its 6th century monastic
site perched precariously at the top of the jagged rocks.. Pause at Moll’s
Gap for stunning views of Killarney and dine with your Irish hosts. (B, D)
Day 8 – Thu: Waterford Crystal & Shindig Tour the Waterford Crystal Factory to watch craftspeople transform molten glass into elegant hand-cut crystal. Head to Kilkenny, a medieval city, for a stroll through narrow streets. Continue to Dublin and attend a “Shindig” dinner with Irish specialties and festive entertainment.
