Coopers have lived here for 350 years, near Collooney, County Sligo, in Yeat's

BALLYGALLY CASTLE - The Ballygally Castle dates
back to 1625 and the hotel is unique in that it is the only 17th Century
building still used as a residence in Northern Ireland today! Ideally located
on the scenic Antrim coast only 20 miles from Belfast, the hotel faces the
soft, sandy beaches of Ballygally Bay and is an ideal base for touring. This

WATERFORD CASTLE
Take the private ferry to a secluded island with a luxury castle hotel and golf
course on the outskirts of Waterford city. Built by the Fitzgerald family in
1160, around the time of the Norman Invasion, the Castle was also the home of
an Italian Princess. The driveway was a rough track carved out a thousand years
ago by medieval monks. This is a cloud-grey stonework fantasy place, with
granite arches and stout, studded oak doors. Spend your time at the tennis
courts, swimming pool, or the par 72 golf course measuring 6,790 yards.
BALLYNAHINCH CASTLE

for picture. Ballynahinch Castle, once the home of the O'Flaherty
chieftains, exudes warmth and friendliness with its bar with its old brick
floor and a long table which displays the "catch of the day". The
fishing beats are close to the house. Bedrooms are large. Bedrooms face either
the mountain or the River Ballynahinch. The natural beauty of Connemara is on
your doorstep and often guests never leave the hotel's property, spending their
days wandering on the well marked footpaths through the 350 acres of grounds or
just curling up with a book beside the fire.
BALLYSEEDE
CASTLE located in Tralee, Co. Kerry. Ballyseede was the chief garrison
of the legendary Fitzgerald, Earls of Desmond. Following the defeat of the
Fitzgeralds in 1584, the house and land was deeded for the sum of one red rose
per year to be presented on Mid-summers Day. Ballyseede Castle has two curved
bows on either side and a battlemented parapet. The relaxed and low-key castle
stands at the end of its own winding carriage drive or avenue.
BARBERSTOWN
CASTLE Barberstown Castle is an historic Country House Hotel. Built in
the 13th century, the Castle is situated only 30 minutes drive from both Dublin
Airport and the city center, thus making it an ideal first or last visit on
your Country House tour of Ireland. Each of the bedrooms has been decorated in
an individual style and dedicated to the ordinary and extraordinary people who
have lived within its walls
DROMOLAND CASTLE
Dromoland Castle is a spectacular place to spend either your first or last
night's stay if you are flying into or out of Shannon Airport. Dromoland was
the ancestral home of the Lords Inchiquin, direct descendants of Brian Boru,
high king of Ireland. It is one of the finest examples of a baronial residence.
Up the grand staircase are found the hotel's premier rooms and luxurious suites
and a portrait gallery of past incumbents of the estate. Jacket and tie for
gentlemen are required after 7pm in the elegant, formal dining room and the
book lined bar where guests often settle after dinner to join in the singing of
popular Irish ballads. Fishing, horse riding, and bird shooting can be arranged
nearby. The golf course meanders around the castle and is a challenging par 71
measuring over 6500 yards. The Egon Ronay guide named the dining room as the
best restaurant in Ireland.
Did you know? St. Valentine rests in Dublin.
at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church. The church contains the remains of St.
Valentine, whose feast fell on February 14th. There was a belief that the birds
mated on February 14th, girls would choose their Valentine sweetheart on that
day and later came the custom of sending greeting cards (Valentines) The crocus
which flowers about this time, is St Valentine's Flower. |

| St. Marys Hospital in County Monaghan provides a bar for its
elderly patients and their guests. Having its own bar made the nursing home,
which has around 140 patients, unique in Ireland. It helps attract more
visitors for the residents, too. The pub is open at 11 am and closes at 9 pm
and charges normal bar prices. |
