Head to the Blarney Woollen Mills for some shopping - there's even a pub hiding in the shopping complex! Continue to your hotel, located on Galway Bay where you may like to check out the old-world traditional pub with live music. (B, D)

Day 7: Aran Islands & Dun Aengus

The Aran Islands are near Galway. For centuries, this craggy landscape has been the home for Irish speaking fishermen and their families, where the famed off-white Aran sweaters originated. Cables in patterns represent ropes, diamonds are nets. The family patterns helped identify long-lost victims of the sea. These lands that time has forgotten, offer rewards beyond the merely picturesque or scenic. Many romantics speculate that Aran is part of the lost continent of Atlantis. Tiny green patches huddle from elements behind stout unmortared walls. The precious soil, built up with seaweed over the generations, and the bounty of the sea sustains the people. Inishmore is the largest island. You travel by steamer to the docks at Kilronan. You may rent a jaunting car to tour the island or walk to Dun Aengus, the fort named after the legendary chief of the prehistoric tribe Fir Bolg. You return via steamer to Galway.(B, D)

The original high crosses and grave slabs are on display in the Visitors Centre. There is an audio-visual show as well as a number of exhibitions. Stop at the Old Jameson Distillery for a shindig evening with entertainment. (B,D)

Day 9 Dublin - USA This morning take a group transfer to Dublin Airport where your tour concludes. (B)

What is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky? A Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the product of one specific distillery and has not been mixed with whisky from any other distilleries. The greatest concentration of malt whisky distilleries can be found in the Speyside region of north-east Scotland with Highland Lowland and Islay being the other main malt whisky producing zones.
What is a Blended Scotch Whisky? A blended scotch whisky may contain a combination of whiskies from over 40 or 50 different malt and grain distilleries. The normal ratio of malt to grain is 60% grain 40% malt. The percentage of malt used will determine the quality and smoothness of taste and character.

At one time Dublin had over 4,000 pubs. As time passed, laws came into being to control the amount of pubs in the city. Now Dublin has almost 750 licensed pubs, each with its own style and particular clientele, its own special character. Many have specialized – traditional music, song & dance, sport & literature and quality cuisine served in a relaxed informal atmosphere. All are centers of Irish life, where there are no strangers, just friends you have not met.

However, a publican can apply for a children’s certificate that will allow children under 14 to be taken into a pub by an adult. Children would normally have to leave by 9pm.

Dublin pubStorytelling, dinner and traditional music in a candelit Dublin pub
The scene is set in one of Dublin's oldest pub, within walking distance of Temple Bar, along the quays. As early as the 1600's, it was a popular haunt. The fun in the pus at night is legendary. The Seanchi, the Irish word for storyteller, entertained common folk and royalty alike with oral tales of fairies, Celtic warriors and legendary deed-doing, which seem to be long forgotten, yet their stories still survive even today. Tales are told and songs sung and everyone is made to feel welcome. With turf fire glowing a perfect setting in which to take you back through the romantic mists of time. We will share, music, and song, storytelling, and moving ballads. History comes alive tonight!
